Four years after her twin is murdered, Juliet Anderson still struggles with guilt, her parents, and her relationships. Two things keep her from falling into a deep, dark place—dancing and her best friend, Ben. So when Ben decides to play football for New Jersey University, Juliet doesn’t hesitate. She follows. Finally away from her past, there is nothing to stand in the way. Juliet will win Ben's heart.

Then she meets Ben's roommate, Chase.

On probation and hell-bent on adhering to a “new life plan,” aspiring artist Chase leaves his New York City home for New Jersey University and meets Juliet before even stepping foot on campus. For him, their connection is instant. She’s the most vibrant girl he's ever seen. Her colors explode on his canvas, and he's never been more inspired in his life.

Too bad she’s madly in love with his seemingly perfect, good guy roommate.

The first time I stumbled upon this book was when I hosted the cover reveal for She Laughs in Pink (SLIP), my first reaction was, "I FREAKING NEED THIS BOOK NOW."

Soon enough, it was as if my reader's prayers were heard and my wish was granted, a reviewing opportunity arose and you don't even have to ask me twice. So, thank you BookFish Books for the opportunity, it still amazed me how a book can leave such significant impact on one's life!

On to the review.

I believe in love at first sight (that was how I developed my shopaholic syndrome), but the idea of insta-love in a romance book seemed to be rather cheesy and typical these days that I tend to judge  a book too quickly, but SLIP was exceptionally good, just as the blurb promises!

SLIP tells the story of two different protagonists, Chase and Juliet with their own depressing past. Chase is determined to leave his old life behind with his New Life Plan - no women, no drugs, no alcohol. Just later, he bumped into yoga hottie at the train station, only to discover that he has met his greatest obstacle to his NLP - Juliet.

Chase knew it was love at first sight, but Juliet seemed to think that Ben is "The One". There was only one problem, Ben is Chase's roomate.

She’s the hottest girl I’ve ever seen, and I’ll have to watch her climbing in and out of my roommate’s bed. Which doesn’t sound awful, but still, the universe must be testing my commitment to the New Life Plan.

If you are seeking for a dysfunctional love story, I'll serve you SLIP on a pink platter, with a taste of family and friendship drama as sides. Calla has a way with words, I could envision the life living inside Sheridan Hall and having Bad Boy Chase, Fiery Juliet and Powerful Pooja as my dorm mates, the writing was that vivid.

I loved that this book surpassed my expectations. I am Team Chase all the way! While Ben sees Juliet as a handful of mess, Chase sees Juliet as a fiery splash of colour (yup you guessed it, pink!), filled with life. I disliked the fact that Juliet ran to Ben for her problems, but the sexual chemistry was undeniable between Chase and Juliet. While Juliet seemed to have set her mind in winning Ben's heart, her escapades with Chase proved otherwise. I genuinely loved those Chase-Juliet moments where they get to know snippets of each other.

Another thing I loved about this book was the profound impact of the secondary characters towards the overall theme of the book. I don't think Sheridan Hall would feel the same without their existence. Different dorm rooms were brought to life with different characters, but their varied personalities made Sheridan Hall what it is - whole. I was caught off guard by the plot twist, and there were numerous times where I just wanted to yank Juliet's hair and scream "Choose Chase already!", but the most admirable part was how Calla was able to bring out those emotions in me, annnndd that is my sign for a good book.
